Description:

A resting pose that gently stretches the back, hips, thighs, and ankles while calming the mind and relieving tension.

Alignment Cues:

  • Knees:
    • Wide apart (for a more open variation) or together (for a more compact version)
    • Tops of the feet flat on the mat
  • Hips:
    • Sink back toward the heels (as much as possible without force)
  • Arms:
    • Extended forward with palms down for an active stretch
    • Or placed alongside the body with palms up for a more relaxed version
  • Torso:
    • Rests gently between or on top of the thighs
    • Allow the belly to soften and drape naturally
  • Head and Neck:
    • Forehead rests on the mat or a block
    • Neck and jaw relaxed
  • Breath:
    • Slow, steady breathing directed into the back body
